Flavor In The Street

Hello World! Flavor In The Street was something I wanted to do, because I felt I had grown since my previous websites. I feel like I was seeing blogging from a different perspective. At one time, I saw this as more of something I did for fun, and I still continue to see blogging as this, but I also have grown a passion for it. I'm getting a platform, where I get to fully express my views on topics in music. I feel like my opinion is rarely heard, and I want to be viewed as the voice of my generation soon. We never get a platform to talk, and it's now just the beginning.

The idea of Flavor In The Street was just to restart my brand. I had gotten the idea of the title from one of my favorite shows, "Living Single" along with the slang, 'Word On The Street.' As many of you know, Khadijah James had owned a magazine company titled, "Flavor." I got the idea by combining the two, which later birthed 'Flavor In The Street.'

I'm quite a hard-working kid. I manage to keep my grades together, while running this blog. I've never quite looked into adding more writers to help grow the brand, but of course I'm open to trying new ideas. I plan to adventure quite a lot when I get older, and my taste in music varies.

Jussie Smollett Announces Signing With Columbia Records/ Working With Timbaland On Album?

Recently, it was announced by "Empire" star, Jussie Smollett, himself, that he would be signing to Columbia Records. Jussie Smollett made the announcement, during his interview with "Entertainment Weekly," saying, "There will be a Jussie Smollett album. I signed to Columbia. So darling [Laughs] I’m label mates with Beyoncé and Adele and Barbara Streisand."

The 31 year old actor, continued on, to say that his "Empire" family would still have something to do with his upcoming material saying, "I would love for Terrence to come and oversee the production of all of the music. And I would love for Timbaland to come on and Jim Beanz. We’ve all talked and they’re all down to work on it."

As much as Jussie seems to be comfortable working with Timbaland, I feel it's best, if he broadens his producers. If he plans on working with Timbaland, it'll just be a similar sound to his "Empire" sound, which I personally don't think will sell. They'll definitely be some conflict in sales, if Jussie plans to release this new material, around Empire.

I feel, during breaks in between seasons, Jussie should really focus on his solo project, and prep for the release, around the leading episodes of the next season, that way it won't overshadow to much with the show, or his sales, because it wouldn't be best to release music from the show, and solo, around the same date. Most likely, the material from the "Empire" soundtrack will sell more. Most actors, don't really get their shine, as artist, but with the recent success he's gotten from Empire, he definitely have some chance.

He doesn't seem like your typical music artist, based on his apperance, and it's possible that his character on the show will interfere, with who he is, as an artist. I'm just hoping he doesn't get overexposed, as that'll interfere with his work on the show, and if both careers seem to be successes, he'll definitely have to shut one down.

The dream plan, would be to release his leading single, before the airing of the season premiere, then throughout the season of Empire, he'll continue to release singles, and most likely, by the season finale, he'll be prepping for the release of the album. Hopefully, the show does promo as well, throughout the season, to sort of help get his shine, as an artist.

With the recent ratings, it could do a lot for the opening status of his career. I already seem to think Jussie is overexposed, based on his character on the show, which I think really takes away from his magic, even though on the show, his youngest brother, Hakeem plays the star of the family. Well, time to save your coins!
