Janet Jackson Confirmed To Receive First 'Ultimate Icon' Award/ 'No Sleeep' Reaches Top 20?
Following yesterday's audio streaming of Janet's new single, 'No Sleeep,' today brought the digital release for the single.
Considering the single was released yesterday, I was curious to see if the singer would receive the same results, as she did for the audio streaming of the single. Considering that most of the buzz, was due to the single finally being released and it being her first in years, I didn't quite expect the same results (only because with the audio streaming, everyone was allowed to listen to the single. Now, it was time for those who really liked the song, to pay), but it seems the singer is on to quite a hit, considering her single has reached #19 on 'Top Songs' and #7 on the Pop Chart, as of writing.
Considering that the singer hasn't released material in five years could definitely be part of the reason for much of the success for the single. I'm hoping that this means Janet Jackson can continue this mature route for her upcoming album. A lot can't be said yet, as this is just the leading single, meaning that Janet still isn't aware of what route may work best for her, in terms of success. Many have missed the singer, so I expected many to support the first single off the project, but will this continue is the question? I'm surely hoping so. Also, considering this is the first day, we'll have to see where the single goes throughout the week. I'm sure Janet Jackson's apperance at this year's 'BET Awards' could possibly do wonders for the new single, as the singer will be receiving the first 'Ultimate Icon Award.' I wonder if this award will last each year, or was this award produced so Janet would be in attendance.
UPDATE: Tinashe, Jason Derulo, and Ciara will be tributing Janet Jackson.
