Flavor In The Street

Hello World! Flavor In The Street was something I wanted to do, because I felt I had grown since my previous websites. I feel like I was seeing blogging from a different perspective. At one time, I saw this as more of something I did for fun, and I still continue to see blogging as this, but I also have grown a passion for it. I'm getting a platform, where I get to fully express my views on topics in music. I feel like my opinion is rarely heard, and I want to be viewed as the voice of my generation soon. We never get a platform to talk, and it's now just the beginning.

The idea of Flavor In The Street was just to restart my brand. I had gotten the idea of the title from one of my favorite shows, "Living Single" along with the slang, 'Word On The Street.' As many of you know, Khadijah James had owned a magazine company titled, "Flavor." I got the idea by combining the two, which later birthed 'Flavor In The Street.'

I'm quite a hard-working kid. I manage to keep my grades together, while running this blog. I've never quite looked into adding more writers to help grow the brand, but of course I'm open to trying new ideas. I plan to adventure quite a lot when I get older, and my taste in music varies.

Tinashe Unleashes 'Cold Sweat' Video/ Announced To Tribute Janet Jackson At The BET Awards:

Recently, Tinashe debuted the visuals for 'Cold Sweat' off her latest album, 'Aquarius.' I had recently listened to 'Aquarius' a few weeks ago, and 'Cold Sweat' definitely came across as a standout on the album.

Tinashe has always been quite a versatile artist, and I personally consider her one of the best female artist in the industry currently. I'm quite surprised at the idea of the singer still releasing music videos from the album. (I did hear that the singer had been funding for her latest music videos, which she said in a interview during the release of 'Bated Breath')

In the music video, shows Tinashe in twisted body imagery, making for a trippy effect. I praise Tinashe for still continuing to release music videos from this album, but I hate that Tinashe's visions aren't being shown in the best light. I personally don't feel this video really captured the song, and I was underwhelmed. I think with this being Tinashe's debut, Tinashe's label didn't exactly go big on budgeting, which explains why the singer has been funding her latest music videos. I salute her, for still trying to capture visuals for each song, but I just feel with a low budget, this is really taking away from the creativity of each video, because her budget may be holding her back.

Sure, the trippy effects may have saved the music video, but otherwise we wouldn't have gotten much from this video at its standard. It's clear that Tinashe is a very visual artist. I do think she still made the best with what she had, and still Tinashe managed to step out the box with this video. This certainly isn't something we would see today in the music industry. Many have compared this video to the style of FKA Twigs which I can see, but overall the singer's style artistically follows the same path as Aaliyah, basically meaning Tinashe is so ahead of our time.

Anyway, while I wouldn't like Tinashe to move on from 'Aquarius,' (as it has so many potential songs) I just feel like options for the singer is limited now. I mean, she did release more videos than expected, especially for this being her debut. Ugh.. I hope it isn't over yet. I would love 'Far Side Of The Moon' to be Tinashe's next single.

Be sure to catch the singer this Sunday, as she has been announced to tribute Janet Jackson for her 'Ultimate Icon' award.
