Janet Jackson's 'No Sleeep' Debuts On The Billboard Hot 100/ Scores 40th Billboard Hot 100:
This week, Janet Jackson has scored her 40th Billboard Hot 100, due to the release of her comeback single, 'No Sleeep.'
The singer's single debuted at #67 this week on the Hot 100.
This is a successful debut for the singer. For a comeback in general, of course this would be a tad bit disappointing, but Janet Jackson hasn't fully promoted the single yet. I look at this, as "Janet Jackson is doing well, compared to her contemporaries," which is true. Also, not only that, but this isn't exactly a particular sound you would hear on the radio today, so Janet Jackson is staying genuine to herself musically as well. I'm glad that Janet Jackson is having a steady return, instead of releasing everything (music video, promo apperances) so quickly. That way, the single may still hold a great position on the chart. Though, I feel Janet Jackson should still have begun filming for the music video, I'm hoping that it's a real visuals, instead of scenes of Janet in the studio recording 'No Sleeep'.
Apperances from the singer have been rare since her comeback, which is why I even question if Janet Jackson will promote the single.
Another Reason I Feel This Single Was Successful Compared To Her Contemporaries: I feel labels have pressured music veterans to follow the particular trend of what's current musically, meaning the particular producers or sound current artist are working with. What labels have to recognize, is that these particular music veterans are connecting with a different audience, than the other artist in the industry currently, because they come from a different time period musically, meaning "that" particular sound from another artist may not recieve the same great feedback from a music veteran, because it's not authenic. (It isn't what the fans are used to from them) This could've definitely been the reasoning for such a great position for Janet, as she's connecting to a sound fans know her best by. I'm proud of Janet, and I've already seem to get a visual for 'No Sleeep.' Remember the scene from 'Go Deep' where Janet was on TV?
The backdrop or background behind Janet is sort of the concept I imagine for the video. Anyway, Janet is wearing an outfit almost similar to what she has on in 'Go Deep.' (picture above) She's seen dancing with 8 background dancers, which leads up to other scenes similar to her previous videos. (Well, at least the concept) I can't describe it exactly, but I see it. And If Janet says she's been listening, I think she'll know what I mean. *Lol*
In related news, 'No Sleeep' also debuted on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs at number 15—her highest entry on the chart—on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at number 18, becoming her 48th entry and on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay at number 27, becoming her 36th hit there.
