Watch: ‘Zoe Ever After’ (Season 1 / Episode 1) [Starring Brandy]
While I was still awake last night, I decided to sneak downstairs so I could grab my earbuds. I decided I’d watch the series premiere of ‘Zoe Ever After.’
I wanted to first name two characters who I thought bothered me, which was Zoe’s ex-husband and Valenté, who plays her assistant. Zoe’s ex-husband happens to be a famous boxer. I didn’t like the way he acted during the conference with the teacher. Before Zoe and Gemini (her ex-husband) went to the Parent-teacher conference, they had lost their son, which Zoe explained to the teacher saying, “X [Xavier] has this thing lately where he disappears for short periods of time. He always comes back though.” Gemini was upset about the teacher’s response to him and Zoe losing Xavier. Zoe told the teacher that he and she were getting a divorce, which led to the teacher saying that boys tend to act out when they don’t have a father in the home. Gemini told the teacher that he was very involved in his son’s life, though what bothered me was his comment before leaving the conference which was, “The champ ain’t going nowhere.” I knew the comment bothered me, because of my reaction once he said it. Though he’s a boxer, during the parent-teacher conference, he was supposed to play his role as a dad, not Gemini, the boxer. Also, I don’t think I liked Valenté. Something about him just rubbed me in the wrong way, and I’m still not sure what it was. It might’ve been his voice that annoyed me a little. I’m sure I just have to get used to the characters a little. Overall, I didn’t think this was a bad show. I probably wouldn’t continue to watch the show, since it isn’t really relatable to me, though it has a good storyline. I especially found the ending of this episode to be cute, when Xavier was talking to his mom (Zoe) and bird poop fell on the top of her head. It was mainly what her son said that I found to be cute.
Watch the series premiere below. It airs on TV on January 5th. It’s available to watch now online though.
