Flavor In The Street

Hello World! Flavor In The Street was something I wanted to do, because I felt I had grown since my previous websites. I feel like I was seeing blogging from a different perspective. At one time, I saw this as more of something I did for fun, and I still continue to see blogging as this, but I also have grown a passion for it. I'm getting a platform, where I get to fully express my views on topics in music. I feel like my opinion is rarely heard, and I want to be viewed as the voice of my generation soon. We never get a platform to talk, and it's now just the beginning.

The idea of Flavor In The Street was just to restart my brand. I had gotten the idea of the title from one of my favorite shows, "Living Single" along with the slang, 'Word On The Street.' As many of you know, Khadijah James had owned a magazine company titled, "Flavor." I got the idea by combining the two, which later birthed 'Flavor In The Street.'

I'm quite a hard-working kid. I manage to keep my grades together, while running this blog. I've never quite looked into adding more writers to help grow the brand, but of course I'm open to trying new ideas. I plan to adventure quite a lot when I get older, and my taste in music varies.

Tinashe Doesn’t Know The Release Date For ‘Joyride’/ Initially Said To Be Released In January

During a brief Q&A with her fans, Tinashe was asked if the album, ‘Joyride’ would still be released in January. In response Tinashe wrote, “No release date yet. I honestly don’t know.” Fans understood, with one saying there isn’t enough anticipation surrounding the album yet.

As a fan, I would care about more than just the music. I would want to have high expectations on how I think the album would do. If Tinashe were to release the album in January, she’d probably expect similar first-week sales to ‘Aquarius.’ Her management has to be aware that she’s a newcomer, meaning that she doesn’t have a strong amount of supporters yet and that she needs more support from her management. She shouldn’t have to be funding some of her videos, though I admire that about her. I think it shows how far she’s willing to push to get her music heard.

This is an idea I had in general. (Not for Tinashe in particular) What if the album was available for pre-order a couple or few months before its release date? Once you pre-order, you receive a code that you insert on that artist’s website, and you’re allowed to listen to the album. After you finish listening to the album, you’re allowed to vote which song should be the next single. I think it’s good to include your fans’ thoughts and opinions. Also, isn’t ‘Player’ the only song she’s released as a single for the album so far? I think it would be an interesting idea, though I didn’t know you were allowed to cancel your pre-order on iTunes. That means people could pre-order, receive the code, and then cancel the pre-order once they’ve listened to the album. Some singers usually ask their fans (once the album is released) what do they think the next single for the album should be, or fans may listen to a singer’s album and say a particular song should’ve been a single. Like I said, I think the idea would be interesting. (And if you cancel your pre-order, your code would then become invalid)

Anyway, I think it’s good that she isn’t releasing the album in January. She isn’t completely done working on the album, which she revealed to one of her fans on Twitter. I think ‘Player’ could be bigger than it is if she performed it once with Chris. (Preferably at an award show) If you notice, the version of ‘Player’ including Chris has more views than the one without him. Like I said, she’s still a newcomer. Chris has been in the industry for at least 10 years (I believe) and he has a strong fan base supporting him. Including him as a feature helps get more attention. Also, because she’s a newcomer, I can’t suggest what type of song she should release next. Tinashe is going her own direction though. She isn’t sticking to a particular genre. Some may say she needs another ‘2 On,’ though it’s clear that might’ve not really been her sound in the first place. She said in 2014, that ‘2 On’ sounded nothing like the rest of the songs from the album. Maybe that was a song to create buzz for her considering she’s a newcomer.

What are your thoughts?
