Rihanna Loses The Weeknd As Supporting Act
Though I didn’t intend on seeing Rihanna live, it was unfair how her European leg included more well-known supporting acts. Her European leg’s supporting acts were Big Sean and The Weeknd. On the U.S. leg, her supporting act is Travis Scott.
There has recently been a change made, as she lost The Weeknd on her European leg. Promoters released a statement citing, “unforeseen changes with upcoming projects.”
Though I’m not certain if this is true, some have poked jokes at her tour not selling well. The Weeknd is now a successful artist. It may not pertain to ticket sales. Many just feel this most likely be the reason he dropped out. This would’ve been a huge opportunity for him had it been offered a few years ago (being an opening act for Rihanna). The Weeknd has since then blown up. He doesn’t need the exposure, as he’s become a huge artist. Even if he may not be on Rihanna’s level in terms of popularity, it wouldn’t be a good look if he’s supporting a tour that supposedly isn’t selling well. What are your thoughts?
