Angie Stone (The Sequence) Issues Press Statement On “Hip Hop Honors” Snub
Angie Stone is unhappy that the rap trio, “The Sequence” weren’t honored at this year’s “Hip Hop Honors.” This year’s ceremony focused on female rappers, as all of the honorees were women. It led to conversation on why other female rappers weren’t also honored, including MC Lyte and Foxy Brown, who later weighed in on her snub.
“The Sequence” was the first female rap group. In Stone’s press release, she expressed “outrage, hurt and disappointment” that they were “snubbed once again.” Although they made no fuss of previous shows, trusting and believing that their time would come; this time the trio Angie B., Blondy Chisolm, and Cheryl “The Pearl” Cook feels undermined and disrespected and want their voice to be heard. “They’re honoring “female” Hip Hop legends” said Stone. “We definitely should have been included in the celebration this year for sure!”
Perhaps relevance could’ve played a part in their snub, as I wasn’t even aware that Angie was once in a rap group.
