Watch: Alicia Keys Pays Tribute To Martin Luther King Jr. #VMAs
Alicia Keys attended MTV's “Video Music Awards” with her husband, Swizz Beatz. Keys shared knowledge with the audience, as yesterday marked the 53rd anniversary of activist, Martin Luther King Jr.'s “I Have A Dream” speech. In honor of the speech, she recited a poem she wrote.
Although Keys attended the event, she oddly didn't perform. Perhaps it was best, as she would've been overshadowed by the other performers. Speaking of which, the singer took to Twitter following Beyoncé’s set, to praise her performance.
She was quickly hit with pregnancy rumors for her appearance. It wasn't noticeable on this end, but do any of you think baby #3 is on the way?
Keys didn't address the rumors, but instead responded to the criticism on her being make-up free. Apparently, the media is putting words in her mouth:
If the pregnancy rumors are true, this could lead to a longer wait on her new album. She may not be concerned as “In Common” didn't even debut on the U.S. Hot 100 (the project's first single).
Following her speech, Alicia Keys presented the award for 'Best Male Artist' which Calvin Harris won. Listen to Keys' speech and hoarse acapella below:
