Jay Z’s “4:44” project is being unraveled. In early June, banners appeared in New York City and online that read “4:44.” Even with minimal information at the time, speculation ensued at it relating to the Brooklyn native.
To address album rumors, a press statement was issued jointly by Roc Nation, Tidal and the streaming service's new co-owners Sprint:
In preparation for the album, Jay Z premiered a snippet of his song, “Adnis” on Tidal. The lyrics to the track show Hov reflecting on what he never wrote and never spoke to his late father, Adnis Reeves. “Letter to my dad that I never wrote,” he raps. “Speeches I prepared that I never spoke / Words on a paper that I never read / Proses never penned, they stayed in my head.”
