Jay Z Officially Announces New Album “4:44”

Jay Z’s “4:44” project is being unraveled. In early June, banners appeared in New York City and online that read “4:44.” Even with minimal information at the time, speculation ensued at it relating to the Brooklyn native. 

To address album rumors, a press statement was issued jointly by Roc Nation, Tidal and the streaming service's new co-owners Sprint:

On the heels of announcing a first-of-its-kind partnership and offer, global music and entertainment platform TIDAL and Sprint (NYSE: S) are excited to share JAY-Z’s new album, 4:44 – the first in a series of exclusives offered to the 45 million postpaid and prepaid Sprint customers and existing TIDAL members.

In preparation for the album, Jay Z premiered a snippet of his song, “Adnis” on Tidal. The lyrics to the track show Hov reflecting on what he never wrote and never spoke to his late father, Adnis Reeves. “Letter to my dad that I never wrote,” he raps. “Speeches I prepared that I never spoke / Words on a paper that I never read / Proses never penned, they stayed in my head.” 

4:44 will be Jay’s first studio album since 2013’s Magna Carta…Holy Grail.
